COmmon Health Problems in rats

 As an ethical, professional breeder, I have chosen my stock with much care over the years and have done my best to improve longevity and immunity strength.  I have tested for all threatening illness that can affect both humans and other rodents,  and our rattery is clear of these issues. Once they leave the rattery, this is out of my control and it is the new pet parens responsibly to provide a safe, clean, sanitary environment to enforce this and support the best quality of life possible. Unfortunately, like many animals, your rats can get sick or experience health issues. Like it or not, pet rats are prone to some health problems. They are hardly “hardy” pets. Instead they are rather delicate. 

Here are a few Health Problems to watch out for:

• Respiratory Distress/URI
• Parasites
• Tumors
